Launching the second batch of the Executive Program in Government Communication to consolidate excellence and innovation in government communication practices

Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, Director General of the Institute of Public Administration, affirmed that government communication has become an important strategic factor in supporting public policies, enhancing transparency, and highlighting national achievements across all fields. This requires sustained investment in developing national leaders and communication professionals, and empowering them with the modern skills and tools needed to deliver government messages efficiently and professionally and to respond effectively to rapid changes across all sectors. This contributes to establishing a unified and influential government narrative that reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s achievements and development aspirations.

She made these remarks at the opening of the second cohort of the Executive Program in Government Communication, attended by Mr. Ahmed Khalid Al-Arifi, Chief Executive Officer of the National Communication Centre.

The Director General added that the partnership with the National Communication Centre reflects both sides’ commitment to adopting an advanced approach to developing government communication professionals. This approach focuses on anticipating future media trends and using innovation and artificial-intelligence tools to develop communication practices, strengthening government entities’ ability to create impactful content and measure the media impact of their initiatives.

For his part, Mr. Ahmed Khalid Al-Arifi, Chief Executive Officer of the National Communication Centre, affirmed that investing in national talent in the government communication sector is an investment in strengthening institutions’ ability to build an accurate public image and translate their efforts, in line with national priorities, into clear and influential messages that reflect what they do for the nation and its citizens. He noted that government communication is now one of the key enablers of development and of reinforcing the positive image of the Kingdom of Bahrain at every level.

Al-Arifi explained that the fruitful cooperation with the Institute of Public Administration is a source of great pride. The second cohort of the Executive Program in Government Communication follows the success of the first cohort, which began last November, and the significant impact that trainees experienced in the programme’s training content. The modules covered the principal foundations on which communication leaders across government entities rely to perform their media duties effectively within an institutional framework based on governance and continuous evaluation, ensuring the quality and sustainability of performance.

The Chief Executive Officer pointed out that the programme, which forms part of the Centre’s efforts through its shared communication services sector to improve government performance in communications by building and strengthening the capabilities of its workforce, aims to develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours in communication practices. It does so by applying innovation and modern technologies to daily work through a carefully designed methodology with high standards of professionalism and quality. The programme also covers mechanisms for managing media crises and best practices in digital government communication, contributing to the successful management of government entities’ digital reputations. In addition, it introduces participants to mechanisms for dealing with international media and to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s successful experiences in international communication, contributing to excellence in communication across the unified government system.

The Executive Program in Government Communication is a specialised programme targeting employees in the communication sector, including department directors, heads of sections and groups, and equivalent roles. It aims to develop participants’ leadership skills in shaping communication policies and drawing up strategic plans, and to strengthen their ability to manage government communication in line with modern best practices.
