The Director of the Registration Directorate at the Institute of Public Administration (BIPA) Najem Salmeen announced the launch of project management program in both advanced and basic levels in next September, after the re-designing to fit the needs of public sector employees in accordance with international standards, where the trainee receives, after meeting the requirements of graduation, a certificate issued by BIPA in cooperation with Ernst & Young "E & Y", as well as an official certificate from the Project Management Institute "PMI", where the trainee becomes eligible to take the Project Management Professional exam "PMP". Mr. Salmeen indicated that BIPA has finished training of 112 employees in 7 batches, and now receives applications from all government ministries wishing to register in this program. Mr. Salmeen noted that the program is aimed at the basic level to strengthen the capacity of workers and employees in the government projects management, and at the advanced level to strengthen the capacity of project administrators and managers to carry out the tasks entrusted to them in government projects with high efficiency and superior professionalism. He explained that the program includes three significant modules as follows; planning and project initialization, implementation and performance monitoring, and finally project successful completion, as well as the use of technical applications in project management. In further details on program's objectives; the Senior Director of Professional Development Mrs. Ghada Shana'a explained that the program seeks in general to achieve its objectives through identifying the concepts and terminology developed in project management, and the ability for projects effective planning, in addition to the ability to lead teams efficiently, and encouraging them to implement the project successfully. This is in addition to the ability to manage the challenges and control of the change, and performance monitoring, as well as the ability to manage the project scope, cost, time and contracts, and identify stakeholders and involve them in a lengthy life cycle, and to create a positive environment of effective communication and cooperation among all parties to achieve the objectives of the project, and finally recognizing the reality of government projects management in the Kingdom of Bahrain, through the provision of a realistic case study of accomplished government projects. Mrs. Shana'a added: "the program will not rely on the theoretical side only, but there will be field trips to one of the government or private institutions involved in projects management, to learn about the functioning of the projects in these institutions, and then discuss the outputs of the visit in groups, which enriches the training process and enhances the information gained during the program. " She also pointed out that at the end of the program participants will present their projects they have implemented during the training, as a direct practical application on what has been trained on.
