BIPA wins the ICF PRISM award for coaching in MENA

HE Dr. Raed Mohammed Bin Shams, Director-General of the Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA), stated that BIPA’s winning of the ICF PRISM award for coaching in MENA reflects the effectiveness of coaching in improving the government performance in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Through its several achievements in this field, the institute played an important role in developing the government sector employees and encouraged them to increase productivity as part of the efforts to enhance the governmental work ecosystem in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Dr. Bin Shams pointed out that BIPA won this award in recognition of the several achievements it made in promoting the coaching culture both internally and externally. It included coaching in the National Leadership Development Program, which helped improve the efficiency of the government performance, enabled introduction of several training courses on coaching for the government leadership, qualifying them to provide coaching within their organizations, and helped promote the coaching culture internally as 38% of BIPA employees joined personal coaching sessions and externally through a group of meetings and training workshops. It also framed coaching as an official institutional practice through the creation of official government coaching positions. Moreover, a number of BIPA employees have already been certified by ICF, and have international postgraduate degrees in coaching and guidance. Dr. Bin Shams highlighted the importance of coaching as one of the essential mechanisms adopted by the institute to achieve its vision of “advanced government performance for sustainable development” through the preparation of distinguished national cadres who can upgrade the governmental work ecosystem, towards achieving the aspirations of the country and its citizens. The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is a leading global organization specialized in the development of coaching through the introduction of high international standards. ICF grants independent certificates in this field and has a global network of accredited organizations, societies and training institutes. ICF grants the world's only internationally recognized accreditation in the field of coaching, after individuals, institutes and authorities meet all the international standards, education requirements and skills required in the coaching programs. ICF seeks to develop the coaching ecosystem, establish a professional code of conduct, key international standards, and guidelines to ensure that relevant international standards are in place.
